Carylann’s vast background in sports, injury, nutrition, massage, & both Eastern & Western medicine make her a uniquely ‘whole picture’ practitioner. She understands the body-brain connection, the effect of dietary intake, & the dynamics of stress on the body.
From her own experience she knows what it is to be athletic & to be handicapped. She knows what it is to experience cancer & auto-immune disease & how to empower the body to heal naturally without drugs & herbs.
Holistic Nutritional Consultation
Carylann studied at Donsbach University. In the 80’s, Donsbach University was one of the only institutions teaching Holistic nutrition which included herbology, mega-vitamin therapy, cleansing and detoxing protocols, natural body building diets, vegetarian and macrobiotic lifestyles. Additionally, they taught the importance of organic farming and the destructiveness of chemicals on the body.
Carylann studied vegetarian cooking with Annmarie Colbin at The National Gourmet Institute for Health and Culinary Arts in NYC from 1980-1984.
Carylann studied with Michio Kushi in NYC and Denny Waxman in Philadelphia learning Macrobiotic Cuisine and Oriental therapies in the late 70’s and early 80’s.
Carylann participated in competitive sports throughout her life. She studied Martial arts, Karate and Akido. She snow skied, raced slalom and was an instructor for 15 years. She played field hockey and softball where she was an all-star. Carylann was an excellent roller skater and roller dancer. Later in her 20’s and 30’s she seriously practiced ballroom dancing and competed in Pro-am competitions.
Always loving the outdoors, she organized outward bound excursions for friends, clients and the foster children she help raise. These excursions included hiking, bicycle road riding, mountain biking, rope climbing, kayaking, repelling, skiing and snow shoeing. She attended The National Personal Training Institute learning traditional sports medicine, body building and lifting techniques.
Carylann Bautz started her speaking and television career in the early 80’s. Her audiences were excited to learn a new way of eating and living and wanted to share it with their families and co-workers.
She has spoken at schools educating teachers and children about healthy eating and introducing stretching and breathing techniques for relaxation.
Carylann works with corporations to teach employees about healthy choices so they are more productive in the work place.
Carylann has been interviewed by Karen White, a local TV personality to talk about all the New Age services at her Center, and Stephanie Stahl from Channel 3CBS. Stahl spotlighted her braveness in trying to bring together traditional western medicine therapies and eastern medicine therapies, and highlighted how stress can make you ill and how natural therapies at her center can help to alleviate “stress.”
In 1999, Janet Zappola with TSM News did a 30 minute special on Carylann’s “Stress Relief Center,” which was the first in the Tri-state area to perform the Colon Hydrotherapy. The Stress Relief Center employed over 20 Professional Practitioners; Psychologists, Chiropractors, Massage Therapists, Spa Therapies, Reiki Energy healing, Aromatherapy with a steaming tent for cleansing and detoxing and of course Colon Hydrotherapy. Workshops were offered daily in Yoga, Meditation, Tai Chi and Music Therapy. Monthly full moon drumming classes were also given.
